When the song first started, Daniel Capellaro, Simon Jay and I had this idea of self love in a social setting but as we continued to write and continued to listen to it, it applies to so many more aspects of life. A theme that will be reoccurring in life and something that we’ll never stop searching for. There will be struggles and there will be doubt, both external and internal. And to be honest, we can be very mean to ourselves sometimes; we hold ourselves back, because we simply think that we aren’t good enough. But the only person who’s going to get you out of that mindset, is yourself. It’s important to find self-love, self-respect, and self-worth. So in the beginning of the writing process it was about an external personal situation, but as we kept writing I had an epiphany that it was more of an internal realization. If we allow ourselves, we control a lot more than what we think we’re capable.
